Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and film actress who is known for her role as the fiery attorney Teri Joseph in the Showtime show Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name following her marriage. As a child, she was a natural actor. At a Maryland contest with high school students, she took home the award for the Best Actress. In the years following her involvement in theatre and with "The Washington Ballet Company", she received an acting diploma from New York University. Her debut role as a character in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love brought her immense respect. Then came movies like "Boogie Nights Spark" and Blue Streak. Soul Food was an immensely popular TV series. She also appeared in TV series such as Second Time Around' and Empire. Earlier in her career she was a part of several stage productions. Parker is married to Boris Kodjoe, an actor and model. The couple has two kids.

Contractor, who was born in Mumbai and resided in Nigeria for seven years experienced a variety of adventures and cultural encounters from an early age. She attended boarding school in London from seven to nine, after which her family moved to Toronto, Canada, where she lived the bulk of her youth and early adulthood. In Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics and became an classical ballerina. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts which was a highly specialized high school where she was able to study not just dance but also theatre. Contractor started acting at the age of 16 after completing a total of 10 years of dancing. As soon as she finished her high school education, she was awarded an all-inclusive scholarship to the University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed the Master of Arts in Theatre. She also double majored with sociology and psychology. After a single semester at the University, Contractor went to an audition on a call-to-action basis for the show Pericles in the highly regarded, world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and landed the leading role. She received rave reviews for her work in the 92 shows performed in the production. It was also voted"the best show of 2002" by Canadian reviewers in 2002. The conservatory in Stratford is home to eight males, four women as well as a few additional people to take a 20 week crash course. Contractor got a place in the next season of shows and eventually landed the part as Hermia In A Midsummer Night's Dream.
